Art Journal Every Day: The 7-Word Autobiography

ArtJournalEveryDayLogo-150If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  There is a flickr group for sharing right here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it.  If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post.  Thanks!

I've always loved the tale about Hemingway's 6-word story.  Sitting in a restaurant with his friends he makes a bet that he can write an entire story in 6 words.  His friends take the wager.  He writes the following on a napkin:

For sale: baby shoes, never worn.

Brilliant, right?

Over the years many people have tried to construct their own 6-word stories, myself included.  Well, I recently stumbled across a variant: the 7-word autobiography.  You can check out some really fabulous ones here.  After reading several of the 7-word autobiographies, I decided that I wanted to do one.  I memorialized it on this journal page:

I used my Swirly Garden stencil for the background and a set of hand carved stamps for my autobiography.

Alphabetstamps
This is my story right now, but I think my story is ever changing.  Evolving.  I wonder what my next 7-word autobiography will be?  How about you?  What is your 7-word autobiography today?

Here is this week's linky list:

Thanks for stopping by!

  • I loved this so much I pinned it to two of my pinterest boards. You rock. Today, mine would be – Realizing she could GROW dye, farming commenced.
I have been somewhat of an (off and on) less than super enthusiastic farmer’s wife, until this past few weeks when I read about eco dying and a whole new world opened up to me! Now, to learn how to sew these textiles I’ll be dying…Of course I’ll also have to use the colors on canvas and paper…
