I'll confess that as things have gotten crazy around here, I haven't managed to actually art journal every single day. But my art journal is always there waiting for me when I'm ready to return. And I'm always happy to return!
This spread was started during my spray paint obsession period. The background is Liquitex spray paint.
This is the thermofax print I shared in this post. I used pink acrylic paint and outlined it with a black pen.
I love putting pretty inked up tags in my art journal. The top one was done with spray ink and the bottom one was done with spray paint.
The portrait of me is a thermofax print, the blue "patterned paper" is a print from a hand carved stamp, and the strip that runs behind my face is a scrap from another project. I love that my art journal is a place for so many miscellaneous bits that I can't bear to part with.
What looks like paint on this page is actually painted deli paper collaged to the page.
You can see a detail of that collaged deli paper above, plus a little doodle. It's amazing what you can do with a white and a black pen.
These are photos that I printed to use on a scrapbook page, but the page never happened. So, I simply pasted them into my art journal!
I had orginially intended to do one entry in each ray, but I had a lot to say and so there are just two entries that cover this whole page. I'm always okay when things don't go according to plan.
I've been doing a lot of collaged faces lately. I just love the look!
I did this spread while I was traveling, so you'll notice that it's basically all done with a ballpoint pen.
It's very different to draw a face with a ballpoint pen, which is pretty unforgiving, versus paint, which is super forgiving.
This divider page is a scrap of paper that I was doodling on. I cut the heart out of it for a different project. It was sitting on my desk and so I decided to just tape it into the journal.
I'm kind of noticing a theme in these pages, aren't you? Lots of bits and pieces of leftovers from my crafty life have been finding their way into my art journal. I'm a sentimental collector by nature and hate to see anything pretty get thrown away, so putting it in my art journal is a great solution!
