Today I thought I'd share five products that I use virtually every time I work on my Project Life album.
A typewriter makes typing up journaling cards on typing directly onto photos or tags so completely effortless. I adore mine!
Can't live without it! I use it to journal on the darker portions of my photos. It works every single time.
I have a wide variety of alphabet and number stamps (many of which I've carved myself) but this set by Inkadinkadoo is one of my hands-down faves! It's a great font and a great size. And I love that it has both letters and numbers. I wish there was some punctuation too, but alas, not everything can be perfect.
Easily my most used ink pad on earth. I reink it almost once a month because I use it so much. Archival ink is waterproof and dries really quickly. I love it!
This is my photo printer. I have had it for years and years and it is super awesome. SUPER awesome. The quality is fantastic and it is so easy to use and even take with you to crops and things like that. There is a newer version of the printer, which I would probably get if I were going to buy a new one.
So there you have it, my five must-haves! Do you have five must-have products for your Project Life?
Thanks for stopping by!

I’m not doing Project Life but I do have some Must Haves for my art journal. Black archival ink, white signo gel pen, rubbers stamps, stencils and stipple brushes.
I’m thinking I’m going to have to have one of your new face stencils because I don’t draw faces at all.

This is my first year doing PL and I wish I had starting record keeping this way when I first heard of it several yeas ago! I absolutely love it. This is such a quick and easy way to use all the paper and scrapbooking supplies I have been hoarding for the last 5 years! I did not have to buy anything new for this other than the style A pocket protectors. And it’s the perfect way to showcase my “photo of the day” obsession.
My 5 must haves are cardstock, stamps, Sharpies, MS Word and a printer to make my own custom journal cards.
Thank you Julie for sharing your own special style of Project Life. It is like nothing else out there and I love your creative uniqueness!

I have been listening to you on the Paperclipping Roundtable and thought I should come and check out your PL. I’m so glad I did! I haven’t started mine yet but I am very inspired by your use of your own materials and supplies and your focus on photos. The first time I looked at your pages I think I was a bit put off that your style is not my style (or even my wannabe style) but I heard you say that you wanted your PL and art to be authentically YOU, and I realize that’s what I should be focused on – what kind of PL I would make if I stopped looking at everyone else’s beautiful pages! So, I don’t know yet what my essentials are… probably lots of photos, handwriting, black pens and ink, and possibly my own carved stamps. Thank you!!

Love your Project Life style Julie, which is so you! I don’t think I could narrow my go-to PL stuff down to five. Since getting an iphone I’ve been using a lot more small photos on my pages, wallets and cropped wallets. Last year, I alternated the page protector designs so that each week I was using a Design A facing a Design F, which has almost all wallet size photos. I’ve been using a lot of patterned paper on those pages, with the small photos. I also like using small labels. I have a growing collection from Avery, Martha Stewart and I love the black and red one’s from Tim Holtz. Another favourite that I like to use is single word stickers or short phrases, and little bitty alpha stickers.

My 5 must haves for doing Project Life are a Pilot Razor Point black gel pen for my hand written journaling (I do it all by hand), a roller date stamper (I have 4 that I use, one just the date, the others with phrases or words as well as the date), a corner rounder, Style A pages and journaling cards in 3″ x 4″ and 4″ x 6″. I mix up using products from Becky Higgins with products from other companies and ones I make myself. Love this project! It is now my go to scrapbooking method. 2013 is my 3rd year. The first time I did it was 2010 and tried doing the photo a day method (back when it was called Project 365), which totally burned me out trying to think of a new photo every day. So I did not do it in 2011. But 2012 I changed to include art, books I’m reading as well as anything that catches my eye. Makes it easier. I am eagerly waiting for the delivery of the Seafoam edition cards, which I ordered last week, the day they were announced as available.

I was wondering: Julie, do you use the Archival ink to stamp on your photos or just for your cards ? I tried to stamp with it on my pics and it smudged (but this is my fav. ink for everything else).
I will try Stazon for the pictures and will see π
thanks for sharing.

I just love when you recommend products because I know that you’ve put them to the test. The Epson photo printer is going on my list for Santa to bring me next year.

Hi, I love your work and love your blog! I’m a “regular”. π I would soooooo love to get this printer one day, but I’m so afraid the ink will run out too quickly (as does my regular everyday paper printer. I read some reviews, and they bear this problem out. Do you agree? They are saying that the ink never lasts through the number of pic papers they get with it (100, etc.). What do you find to be the case with yours re: the ink?
Thank you soooooooooo much for being so kind to have your blog, it’s just great π
