Hooray! Stencil hop time is here again! I've got four massively talented ladies lined up to wow you:
- Wilna Furstenberg: Wilna is someone whose work I've admired for about as long as I can remember. She is on the design team for October Afternoon and a Garden Girl at Two Peas in a Bucket, where she also sells lovely digital kits with a painterly feel.
- Tammy Tutterow: Tammy's shabby chic style is so beautiful and delicate and her blog is constantly full of wonderful step-by-step tutorials. She is the Design Team and Community Coordinator for Sizzix and teaches across the U.S. and internationally.
- Dion Dior: Dion is a painting queen. She was born in Australia and currently lives in Iowa with her husband and their two children. She is an avid art journaler and teaches online classes.
- Joanne Sharpe: Joanne is a lettering diva. She has been published in many magazines including Cloth Paper Scissors, Somerset Art Journaling, CPS Studios, Somerset Apprentice, and Somerset Studio. She teaches classes online and across the U.S.
These four ladies are going to show off what they did with the Leaf Grid stencil:
I made this scrapbook page:
You can see that I used the stencil two ways to create this background. First, I sprayed through the stencil, and then I flipped it over and smushed it on to the page to create a print with the stencil. Having both types of prints from the stencil makes for a great background.
I used the same technique to create the tags you see here on this unfinished art journal spread:

Of course, you can also isolate portions of the stencil, as I did when I created the cover page of this altered book.
That's a single bough of leaves — simply mask it off with post-its or tape and you can easily create an adorable embellishment.

I received my first Balzer Designs stencil this week (Lotus 6×6) and my first gelato sticks (black and white). Immediately after opening the package I used them together onto the purple paper bag that held my delivery. It was tricky smooshing the gelatos (used them like crayons) through the finer parts of the stencil, but I liked the result.

I used your peacock stencil on a watercolour paper on which I had flipped another paper with circles of inktense acrylic ink, to help them dry. Then, I applied your stencil and worked with panpastel around some of the ‘ink stains”. To finihs I outline the peacock feathers with a fine line of black pen. The result is beautiful.

I purchased your pointy circles stencils and discovered it works well with the moulding paste! I colored the paste with smooch spray and used the stencil on the front of my cards. Everyone is trying to figure out how I made the textured cards!

Your have proven to me that my stash of stencils will never be complete. The most recent project on which I used a stencil was a birthday card. I used chalk and it was gorgeous, but I see now that I must have spray ink!! Thank you so much for the joy you spread with your “art and attitude”.

The most recent project where I used a stencil is all of the tags that I have been hooked on making. I make my own using watercolor paper. I stencil,spray,stamp, paint, etc. the paper. Then I put colorful ribbon or yarn through the hole. I give the stese tags away as bookmarks. What fun it is to do this.

I have two of your stencils and WILL HAVE more. Love them and the stencil hop. My most recent stenciling was with the mesh bag that grapefruit came in. I used a couple of your stencils (chevron and one with “handwriting”) to make tags to journal on. I used turquoise glimmer spray on the “handwritten” stencil, then used a gold leafing pen to add chevron edgings. I journaled in black, then stapled them into my art journal.

I just did a couple of art journal pages with modeling paste and Pan Pastels. I discovered that it’s best for me to use a stencil without intricate details if I want to color in all the modeling paste with the Pastels! LOL

I used one of your new stencils (birds) and the matching stamp set on some tags and then showed my grandaughter how to use the Lotus Blossom stencil in our art journals!! Love them.

I am so addicted to The Crafter’s Workshop stencils! The one I used most recently was the 6×6 chevron pattern on a scrapbook page. I used some Picket Fence stain and created a background on some kraft paper by turning the stencil in different directions. I loved the results! It was subtle, because the photos were busy.

I guess I didn’t leave a comment. I just made a journal with stencils. I used a swirl of cirlces with Gelatos. It turned out pretty nice. I mixed the colors and so it is interesting.

Last week my stamping group got together for our monthly meeting and the theme was stencils. We all have your fab Stencil 101 course and we all went mad – tags, watercolour, pages, cards. I had a wonderful time with the blazonry stencil on watercolour paper with ink and paint and gesso. So much fun and they are so gorgeous 🙂

Yesterday I used Dylusions Luscious Leaves stencil at a workshop with Dyan. We used it in 2 different ways – one on black ink, removing the ink where the stencil was & painting in with a contrasting colour. The other we sprayed through the stencil with black ink & highlighted the image in white. These were on journaling pages.

Hi! I love stensils! I use them on scrapbookingpages, cards and canvas. My last project with a stencil was a mini-canvas-card. The canvas was about 10×10 cm. I used acrylic paint on background, stamped with acrylic paint and foam stamp, and used a dotted-stensil and gesso. It was so fun trying out the stensil on canvas! I glued the mini-canvas on a card 12×12 cm, and gave it to my motherinlaw as a birthdaycard. Really cool! I’ll be buying more of those mini-canvases and painting, stamping and stensiling on cards in the future :0)

Love this leaf grid stencil! Fun to see the different techniques on each of the blogs and how the projects all turn out. I used a stencil on a card recently. Used to stencil on fabric years ago also.
