I've got some lovely guests lined up to share their art journaling process through a fast forward video. Today's guest is Janine Rothe.
Q: How long have you been art journaling?
A: I’ve only been art journaling since June of 2011. My grandfather passed away and being creative really helped me grieving.
Q: Why do you art journal?
A: I like to get creative after a hard day at work. To get messy with paint really helps me to relax. And it is fun as well!
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in your art journal?
A: I love texture so I’d have to say masks, stencils & stamps.

I have linked to all of the specific supplies that I could find. Here are the additional supplies Janine used: various pieces of paper & a poker card, acrylic paint, Unity brand stamps, tweezers (these are the ones I use), butterfly punch, inks in magenta & black and the following texture tools:
- punchinella (you could use the Balzer Designs Punchinella stencil in 6×6 or 12×12)
- self-carved stamps
- plastic fork
- the leftover of 3d dots (used as a stencil)

About Janine:
I just turned 31 a couple of weeks ago, split up with my boyfriend of 6 years and I am ready to conquer the world. Well, not really. I am German and live close to the capital Berlin. I’ve also spent a year in D.C. after graduating from high school. Can’t believe that’s 12 years ago.
I have a Master’s degree in English and Adult Education and currently work full time as a social worker (sort of). However, my dream is to become a teacher for either art or English or both.
After a hard day at work I love to come home and be creative. Somehow, I find it very relaxing. When I get messy with paint I can easily forget the time and I can tell you it’s not a good idea to go to bed at 2am when you have to get up at 5am. But what can I do I just love it.
I do a weekly art journaling post on my blog including a video. It’s called Saturday’s Art Journaling.

Love your page! How every element comes out so well with the others. I agree about how playing with inks and paint up to 2.00a.m is not good when you have to get up at dawn BUT in the end we’ve done what we love and it does us so much good! Thanks for sharing.

VERY helpful, so pretty the colors, & refreshing to see elements which complement each other.
