On Saturday I went to an all-day crop with the Manhattan Scrapbookers. Going to a crop means packing. I *detest* packing for a crop. Plus I find it fairly impossible. I always want to take my sewing machine, typewriter, and every single paint and spray I own. Living in New York with no car means you just can't take it all with you! Plus cropping means that I have to pre-print my photos and *gasp* that is just not the way I'm used to doing it! Well, somewhere in the midst of trying to decide what to bring and what photos to print I started to play with the supplies on my desk and this layout sort of happened:
I worked on it in little bits as I was packing and soon enough it all came together. I think it's a good example of why reorganizing your space really helps you get creative. Sometimes it's the simple act of fingering my supplies that inspires me to create!
I'm pleased to say that my mojo was cracking all day long and I managed to get several projects done at the crop that I really like! But that, my friends, is a story (and a blog post) for another day…!

I love this layout Julie! The colours, the ‘free’ writing and the bits and pieces you added, perfect! I, too, like to have all my stuff around me ’cause I can’t work with a ‘plan’… It sort of grows… I’m curious to see what you created at the crop!

Yesterday, as I was preparing for a workshop I have today, I went through my supplies and found so many bits and pieces of rub ons from previous workshops, that I had to stick them down – and there I was, creating something new even though I didn’t plan it, or had the time! :-)))

Sometimes I challenge myself to use supplies that have been out of reach for a while and it’s like I just bought new stuff. While at a crop I tell myself that I can always add embellies when I get home. Makes me feel more “secure” about creating my LO. Strange, but true.

from reading your post today and the comments left, both Lisa and myself are taking a deep sigh of relief that we are indeed NOT abnormal and there are others like us that want to take everything but the backyard sprinkler and our husbands sock collection when we are invited to “play” anywhere. Hang on a minute………there’s a workshop in that…socks and sprinklers a la canvas!! hehe
