Every time I teach a class I am blown away by my talented, creative, generous, funny, charming, wonderful students!  We always have a good time talking art, craft, life, NYC, relationships — and so much else!  This class was particularly wonderful because I had several students who I've had in other classes and I just love that!

An all-day art class is always a lovely way to spend a day!  If you want to come and play with me, I've got my very last class of 2010 happening on Sunday at Portrait Bug on the Upper West Side in Manhattan!  Here are the details:

When: December 19, 2010, 11am-5pm (with an hour break for lunch)
Where: Portrait Bug, 2466 Broadway New York City, New York 10025 (Between 91st and 92nd Streets)
Contact: Portrait Bug Website, 212.600.4457, info@portraitbug.com

Introduction to Art Journaling

FlowerCircles
Art Journaling is a fun and relaxing way to mix creative expression with memory keeping. Many art journaling techniques can be used in card making, scrapbooking, mixed media artwork, and even fiber art. In this introduction to the process of art journaling we’ll cover all the basics from supplies to techniques. You’ll leave with at least one completed page and inspiration and know how to help you keep creating for months to come!
Supply List (bring to class):
  • Paintbrushes (1 small round, 1 medium round, 1 large flat)
  • Gesso
  • Masking Tape
  • Notebook or Journal of some kind
  • Favorite Colorants (paint, crayons, spray ink, oil pastels, etc. — whatever you enjoy using — and be prepared to share)
  • Jar or Container for Water
  • Stamps
  • Solvent Ink (such as Tsukineko’s Staz On or Ranger Archival) – any colors
  • Cardstock to cut up (at least 8.5×11)
  • Black Waterproof Pen
  • Scissors
  • Household items: toilet paper tube, old credit card, Lego, plastic knife, plastic fork, etc. (bring any of these items you may have on hand)
  • Optional: scraps of paper, book pages, gel medium, stencils, White Paint Pen (can also use gold or silver – fine point), paper punches, Craft Heat Gun (*very* useful — bring it if you own one)

I'd love to see you there!

  • Your class was AWESOME as usual Julie. I learned so much and had a great time. My 8 year old was so inspired by what we did, he made one too! When it’s finished I’ll send you a picture.
    Thanks again,
    Ketsia
