Things I Made for Prima’s CHA-Winter 2010 Release

The title of this post just about says it all.  I've compiled all the things I made for Prima's CHA-Winter 2010 release into one long post.  Some of them I showed on the blog before CHA, and some of them will be new to you.  To try to keep things interesting, after each project I've got one (hopefully) fun fact to share!

Acklam-sm

I hand cut the title on this one from a scrap of patterned paper.  I was going to paint it, but I wanted something softer and more romantic.

AtLast-sm
This layout uses the same photo four times.  I played with it in Photoshop, cropping and coloring it differently each time.

EverydayMe-sm

I cut apart the layout I made for this tutorial to get all the photos and green painty circles.

GirlsWhoWearGlasses-sm

Up close and personal, you can see the layers and layers of paper that went into that bullseye on the left.  Basically, I stacked up circle after circle and stitched it down with my sewing machine using a zig zag stitch.

TwoGirls-sm

I made this layout for the specific purpose of showing off Prima's gorgeous new stamps!  One of the things that I really enjoy about design team work is being given a product to show off.  It makes you have to think about your supplies in a different way.

URhere-sm

This was the last layout I made.  There's a step-by-step video tutorial I made floating around at Prima headquarters.  Hopefully they'll share soon and you can see it!

VisitFromAmy-sm

I've got a video tutorial on this layout too.  The focus of the video is on how to create an embellishment cluster from a design point-of-view.  Take a peek:

  WeddingPrinterTray-sm
I used a heavy duty combination of gel medium and foam adhesive to adhere the layers and layers of flowers in this 7gypsies printer tray.  Each section is base filled with paper flowers and then more decorative flowers are adhered on top.

BirdQuilt-sm

I decorated the surface of this canvas quilt with a combination of oil pastels and Adirondack Color Wash.

BirdCanvas-sm

The colorful mixed media piece above is made from layers and layers of gesso and paint on a calligraphy board that a friend gave me.  I stamped the bird and then outlined it with a white pen to give it a more hand drawn effect.

AboutMeCanvas-sm

This is a large canvas that I adhered a collection of tags to.  Close ups of the individual tags are below:

5-sm

This was a totally Christine Middlecamp inspired moment. Her style is a million miles away from mine, but I do love how she keeps stacking things until she creates something brand new.  This is chipboard, a sticker, another sticker, another chipboard, and finally the number 5!

BeingCreative-sm

I inked the edges of the tag with brown Distress ink and then splatted it with red paint before I adhered the butterfly, pearls, and journaling.

BeingEarly-sm

I used gel medium to adhere the flowers to the tag.  Especially for a piece that's going to hang on the wall, I like to have a seriously strong adhesive.  Gel medium lasts forever.

Ghosts-sm

I fed this tag directly into the typewriter before I adhered the flowers.

HorrorMovies-sm

I used a stapler to attach all the flowers to this tag.

ISpeakEnglish-sm

I used watercolor to color the journaling strips on the tag above.

J-sm

I ripped the original covering off of the chipboard letter and painted it with acrylic paint.

NYC-sm

Contrary to what you may think, these flowers were not colored by me, they are black flowers.  Cool, right?

TV-sm

Prima has started doing this cool thing where all their letters and some of the stamps and stuff come with single rhinestones.  I used a collection of them along the right edge of the tag.

FullCanvas-sm

This has been a very popular project.  It's a combination of watercolor and gesso for the underpainting.

PaintandPaperCollageGirl-sm

Fun fact: The day before I shipped this canvas off to Prima, I taught a class on how to make it.

HeartsOfLifeDoubleView-sm

This is a loooooooooooooong hanging.  Each panel is a canvas page from one of Donna Downey's canvas albums.  Fabri-Tac is holding it all together!

HappyBirthdayHanger-sm

To keep this door hanger rigid, I used a piece of armature wire behind the flowers.  It maintains the sort of necklace shape.

Simple-sm
I made the frame from masking tape.  My first time doing that, but definitely not the last!

FamilyOf2-sm
All of the flowers on this layout, except for the two large red roses, are from a single flowered vine. It's amazing how it takes up the whole page.

That's it!  Whew!  A lot of projects.  Thanks for making it to the end!!!
