I've been doing some doodle drawings for my theatre company:
Just little logos for the shows. I find it easier to draw in Photoshop (probably because erasing is so much easier) than on a regular piece of paper. I use a Wacom Tablet and create in layers. For example, in the logo above ("The Therapy Plays"), the chair, the shrink, the patient, the couch, and the title are each their own distinct layers that can be manipulated separately:
(You can see where I had to erase part of the shrink in order to make him look like he was sitting in the chair.)
Having grown up believing that I couldn't draw at all – and even now I absolutely admit that I can't draw in that fine art kind of way – I have discovered that sketchy little doodle drawings are possible for me. And I'm having fun with them! I read this quote recently and it resonated with me:
"When
my daughter was about seven years old, she asked me one day what I did
at work. I told her I worked at the college – that my job was to teach
people how to draw. She stared at me, incredulous, and said, 'You mean
they forget?'" ~Howard Ikemoto
Thanks for letting me share!
Love ’em! Makes me want to pull my wacom back out to play :)!

Your sketches are fantastic. I am right there with you–growing up thinking I couldn’t draw AT ALL! It’s tough to get over that concept and put pen to paper (or tablet!)

great sketches! I remember my oldest daughter’s first grade teacher telling me how uninhibited kids are with drawing and art, and how we forget that sense of fun as adults… it wasn’t long after that that I decided I loved scrapping – cause I stopped saying “I’m not creative” and just got on with it…

I enjoyed the article on Howard Ikemoto and your sketches. How true that we tend to grow up thinking that we can draw or “we can’t”. I’m glad that you found a way to draw that pleases you:-)
