Fiber Art

Wow! Just Wow! A Great Class With Jan Beaney!

Jan Beaney is one half of the fiber arts duo known as “Double Trouble Enterprises.”

Jan (on the R) and Jean Littlejohn (on the L) are well known for their amazing surface design and they are in demand as teachers and lecturers and their self-published books are legendary treasures. Well, today I had the extraordinary pleasure of taking a class from Jan at The City Quilter.

Class with Jan Beaney at The City Quilter in NYC

The class was described as follows:

“Using a comparatively new water soluble fabric, students will be encouraged to create patterned and textured fabrics by combining appliqué, beading, hand and machine stitching.”

Very cool, right? Well, the class did not disappoint. Here are some photos of the sample I made in class:

My mind is already racing to where I could go with this fabulous technique! My one complaint about the class is that I would have liked it to be an all day deal (it was 12-6pm) or multiple days because there is so much I want to know from Jan!

In Her Own Words

Here are a few videos of Jan Beaney, so you can get a sense of her for yourself:

Looking Foward

I’m totally jazzed for tomorrow’s class with her partner-in-crime Jean Littlejohn. Oh, and I have to buy a ton of water-soluble fabric because I’ve got big plans!!
