Sometimes I get an idea and I just can't be stopped. Evidence: My fingers are numb. My hand, shoulder, and back are all sore.
Why?
We have no window treatments in our dining room. I've been inside the house a lot lately (like everyone else) and I've really been feeling the lack of window treatments. So I figured that I could make some. But who wants boring curtains?! Not me. So I grabbed some big sheets of paper and I started cutting.
And I kept cutting.
And cutting.
And then I taped them to the windows.
But I didn't like that they didn't touch the window sash. So I cut a border and put it on the bottom.
Much better!
Here's a peek at what they look like at night, from the inside…
…and from the outside:
I feel like (a) they look even better in person, (b) they let in light but give us a bit more privacy, and (c) they go with the Victorian feeling of our home. This was a solution that cost almost nothing — just some cheap drawing paper and a lot of time! Finally, I will point out that I was limited by the size of paper I had: 19×24, but I made it work. The gaps between the pieces of paper simply seem like a design choice! I think you could do this same idea with regular letter-sized paper. You'd just have to get creative with the gaps — almost like tile!

A very good idea. Unfortunately, I dont have any white window cling in the house. And I like hand cutting. But definitely another good way of approaching the project.
