AJEDHeader2020

If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, the concept is simple: It's a commitment to take ten minutes each day to do something in your art journal.  No need to finish anything or even like it.  It's about making the time to nourish your creativity every day!  If you have the time to flip through your phone, you have the time to Art Journal Every Day.  If you'd like to share what you make, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek.  You can find new Art Journal Every Day posts here on the blog most Fridays.  The archives go back to the first Art Journal Every Day post in 2010.

I've got rocks on my mind.  I've played around with rocks in my artwork before (I'm sharing some images below).  But I'm really obsessed now.  If you listen to the podcast, you know that I'm on a maps-in-art kick at the moment.  And this art journal spread seems to play right into that obsession.

I love how it turned out and it feels like a big jump forward from some of my previous rock explorations:

While practice is an important part of artistic development, I think that time is also an important factor.  Have you thought about revisiting a motif or idea from several years ago?  You might have a fresh new take on it now. I hope you get some art journaling in this weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Big fan of your work for a while…it was interesting to see the evolution of your use of color, text and texture over the years.
The idea to revisit a motif for a fresh take is fantastic! For me wire words and using poetic text come to mind as motifs to revive. Thanks for the idea and inspiration this Friday and every Friday.

  • I have to be honest and say that although I love your most recent work that I TOTALLY also still love the previous explorations. The depth of the layers and the fluidity of those works really appeal to me even more than (what appears to me) the more controlled current work. Just my opinion of course. I love that you are always growing and taking new direction in all you do. That’s what keeps me hanging around as a fan all these years! ๐Ÿ™‚
