Thought I'd share what's been going on in my daily art journal these days!

Glitterdrops

And remember the raindrop motif I created inspired by Amy Lapi during Art Journaling Week?  Well, I embellished it with some glitter and a bit of stamping:

And while I was in Chicago, I sat in my hotel room and I made this page:

But when I got back home I decided to add a whole bunch of journaling blocks.

Sometimes you have to just cover things up and add those layers, no matter how pretty it may be!  For me, an art journal is a working space for experimenting.  So I experiment and don't worry about messing up or covering up.

Finally, I had some fun with watercolor crayons. Dry…

…and with water added to the mix:

How about you?  Have you been art journaling?

  • I’m trying to START my poor art journal. So much I want to try, and then I can’t find the courage to put brush to paper. Argh! I keep meaning to do it, but then I revert into “safer” creative pursuits, like drawing something, working on beads- anything that already has its process and doesn’t feel foreign to me. I know I need to dive in, but I’m scared. Isn’t that crazy?

  • Chel I know what you mean! I’m the same way! I am afraid to let go! Afraid of destroying what I’ve made instead of just letting go!
How do you do it? How do you let go!

  • Are the white spaces layered over the journal page done with gesso?
I am stalled on my journal after doing the exercises during the Art Journal week almost daily..I think I need a weekly kick in the pants to get back to it again. I absolutely love what I did that week, but a lot of other annoying stuff is vying for my attention. How do you do it all and balance everything you need to do?

  • omg! there is only one thing that could have made your page (inspired by me… oh dear!!) better, and that was glitter. holy crap that looks good.
i have a couple of questions, if you’re looking for some interesting topics to blog about i would love it. 🙂
1- how do you find the right color to paint skin/faces?
2- how do you free-stitch like that? i know you showed me when i was at your house, but i didn’t have a machine at that point and never got to practice and then kind of forgot.
    LOVE AMY!

  • sorry just to clarify.. when i say “how do you free stitch” i mean do you have the foot up or down, do you need a specific foot or needle, things like that. Not, “how do you make such perfect flowers and lettering” type of thing. 🙂

  • Just did a few pages in my new art journal and it’s harder to let go then I thought it would be (though not surprising knowing me).
I love how the watercolor crayons look after H2O is added!
What a HUGE journal you have (little red riding hood);-)

  • I’ve been doing a bit of art journalling – just did a page yesterday but it was a bit more collage-y but i like the idea of having every page in my journal look different.
Question – for the page with the watercolour crayons – how did you add the water? did you spray it or just apply with a brush! It looks soo pretty!
