Inkpadclass
I'm hoping that my students couldn't tell quite how badly I was feeling, but on Saturday I practically crawled to The Ink Pad to teach my stamp carving/printmaking class.  Not to overshare, but I had food poisoning of epic proportions.  I'm really proud of myself for keeping it together and making it through the 10am-5pm class! Of course I got home and passed out for about sixteen hours, but that's another story!  Regardless, it was a wonderful way to spend a slushy Saturday.  And may I brag about my students for a moment?

Pretty freakin' talented, right?!  Those are some of their fabulous hand carved images!  So innovative!  So creative!  So colorful!  So fun!

3ladies
These three ladies: Pat, Eileen, and Heidi, came together.  I love it when there are friends in class because they always have the best time giggling with each other and these ladies were no exception! I so appreciated their dry senses of humor!  And they carved some gorgeous stuff too!

Building&clouds

Brenna was the speed demon of the class!  Look at that mound of rubber!  She carved up a storm!  She has taken several classes from me and she's a wonderful artist!

Cornelia signe up for the class on a total impulse the day before.  Her work was so lovely and detailed!

Jodi (left) went from believing that she couldn't draw to drawing that wonderful swirly flower heart shape you see her carving!  Amazing!  And Liz (right) is always a fabulous student and impressive artist.  You might remember her puzzle pin tutorial, which was featured on this blog!

These super cool orange flowers are wonderful Susan's prints!  I somehow did not get a photo of her in action…oops!

Linda was a wonderfully enthusiastic student!  One of the things I love about teaching is re-living the thrill of discovery through my students.  Linda was having discoveries left and right and that was lots of fun for me!

Sandi
Sandi is someone who I often scrapbook with.  It was awesome to have her in class.  She and Susan reconnected after meeting several years ago.  Isn't that fun?

Word
I was so blown away by my students' enthusiasm, talent, and generosity!  What a wonderful class!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Sorry to hear about the food poisoning. I am not sure how you made it through. This looks like a great class. I am going to have to pay more attention to these classed, I wasn’t aware that it was in NYC. I am in PA and it is only a 2.5 hour drive. We don’t have many things like this around here.

  • Glad you’re well enough to write about this Julie — hope you’re back to 100%.
I am SO envious!!! It looks like everyone had a great time and I love the designs coming out of this class! What talent and creativity!!! Love love love!
I think some of us PA residents might have to carpool and get up there for one of your classes. Especially if you repeat this one!

  • Your poppy prints are what drew me to your blog in the first place! I WOULD SO LOVE to take one of your classes someday! I bought stamp carving tools at The Paper Source but I’ve been too petrified to try to carve something. It would be a great project for my new art journal though!! THANKS also for your recent visit to my blog – I was squealing with excitement!
