Can I just say how proud of, and humbled by, the students in my online class "30 Days in Your Journal" I am?
Their evolution and growth from fearful journalers in the first week or so to confident journalers with distinct personal styles has been so gratifying to watch. And today when I logged on to the message board, there they were giving such very good advice to each other about "showing up" every single day.
I think showing up in your journal every day is key to becoming a successful every day art journaler. On the days you don't feel like it, don't have time, can't find your mojo, hate everything you touch, have lost confidence, or feel intimidated — those are the days that you most need to plop yourself in a chair for ten minutes and play with paint or just write out the reasons why you really cannot possibly art journal today.

Remember, it's just ten minutes of time to make a mess, write down a thought, stamp, paint, draw, doodle, stencil, or play! It's not about making something "pretty" — just showing up is enough.

Julie it is a fabulous class, i am loving it but have taken the last few days off to be with family. I really love all the examples you have shown and hope we are going to have more classes from you soon 🙂

These are beautiful! I really love the black backgrounds with white writing. May I ask what pen (pencil?) is being used? (If it is a technique taught in class, I certainly understand.) I keep buying white pens and tossing them. They never seem to work. Thanks so much.

I know what you mean about the white pens… I bought dozens of white (and other color gel pens) only to toss them after the first use. But, I was watching Julie doing zentangles on a black background with Sakura pens so I tried them. I love the metallics and the clear pens for their colors, but the Souffle white works well on black. ~ Katje

Julie, I know it is late in the year but I would love to sign on for Art Journaling Every Day but I don’t have a website. What do I do if I don’t have a URL? I regret not signing up for the 30 Day Art Journaling class. I’m not sure I do anything that takes just 10 minutes!
