I think today's canvas may be my favorite of the ones I posted recently. A big thing I've been pushing myself to do is dig deeper, move away from pretty, and create canvases full of emotion and story. I think I succeeded with this one, but what do you think?
And I couldn't resist another red edge:
In a lot of ways this is a really minimal painting. It's very simple with broad brush strokes. And yet I feel like it communicates. I feel like the figure in the painting is speaking to me with her sad, sad eyes. What do you think? Do you feel the emotion coming through the paint?

Hi Julie: I was wondering if you could help me. I bought all your stencils, some from crafter’s workshop and other companies. When I used Dyan’s, Tims, Heidi’s or paint, it goes under the stencil. I’ve sprayed close, far away, sponged, painted and still can’t seem to “get it!” I put the “gorilla tape” on the stencils (which I think is absolutely brilliant” and am wondering if this is stopping them from laying flat? I used to be able to do it but have lost my mojo with the stencils. Could you please help me now that I have your whole set? Thanks Julie. I LOVED your Jump Start.
