On my recent travels I experienced two flight delays on two different days.  Luckily I had two sketchbooks with me and used one for each delay!  Sketching is a great way to pass the time and use the "found" time without getting grumpy.

Here is my watercolor one:

Here is the one in my Gelli printed sketchbook:

Which style of sketchbook do you prefer the look of?  I'd love to know!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • I love both but the gelli print sketch is cool because I love the way it makes the people look like they are glowing.

  • I love them both, each for their own style, the feelings evoked while looking at them, studying the challenges and results in creating them. I must say that I am fascinated with your gelli print sketches, as you masterfully work with the afore created backgrounds to provide interesting and purposeful shading to your subjects.

  • I like the gelli print sketch. The vibrancy of the colors are really neat. Julie, what kind of white pens or markers do you use on these. I am having a hard time finding a white marker that can write over paint and collage. I have sent many markers to an early demise, recently!

  • I’d have to say the watercolor book because it looks more like a real person. Both are wonderful in their own way. Do the people around you get curious about what you’re doing?

  • I like them both also for various reasons with each book and style but since you asked for a preference I’ll give the watercolor sketchbook a tiny edge.

  • I like both for different reasons, can’t pick. I find it very soothing and relaxing to look at watercolor sketches because I know how you I can get in the “zone” doing those and I can find that feeling easily when I look at other people’s watercolors, also. But I really like the gelli print sketches because they are so dynamic, exciting, different from anything else I’ve ever seen. As someone else said, it’s cool how the people appear to glow.
