In Person Classes: Coming Up in 2015

Come and take a class with me!

San Jose, CA: January 3 & 4, 2015

I'm teaching two classes at A Work of Heart.

On Saturday night I'll be showing you how to use a face stencil to create unique ladies.  You've seen some of my old favorite face stencils, like this one:

PeacockFeather-wm
But I've got a brand new one coming out in January 2015 that really helps teach you how to draw faces and that's the one we'll be using.  That's right!  You're going to get your hands on it to try it out before it even debuts at CHA!  Wheeee!

Faces231-wm
All of the faces above were created using that *new* stencil. In class we'll talk about customizing the stencil design and adjusting it to fit what you want to do, along with the basics of shadowing and shading to enhance the face.

On Sunday I'll be teaching my all-day sketching class: Sketchbook: Yes, You Can Draw!

Even if you're skeptical, check out what previous students in class have created.

Anaheim, CA: January 10, 2015

If you're going to be at CHA, please join me for my "Cutest Cards Ever" class at CHA.  This hands-on workshop (every student will have their own ScanNCut to use in class) will get you feeling comfortable with the ScanNCut and take you through all the basics on how to use it.

We'll be making three cards and envelopes:

My goal is to demystify the ScanNCut and get you feeling super comfortable with all that it can do!

Santa Ana: January 17 & 18, 2015

I am super excited to share so many cool techniques in my two-day workshop at Jenny Doh's Studio Crescehdoh!

MagazineMagic-withtitle

We'll be using magazine pages to create transfers, underpaintings, stencils, and even make our own super deep canvases!

This is a really cool class.

New York City: February 7, 2015

I'm teaching a basic stamp carving class for my alma mater on February 7.

Stampcarvingpeek

It's a quick class with an optional lunch afterwards.  So, if you're a member of the Brown Club of NY or you'd like to be, check it out!

New York City: February 28, 2015

This is a technique that I love and adore and have been using for years!  I'm happy to be bringing it to The Ink Pad.

PaintedPaperCollage-sm

Come and learn how easy it is to create a painted paper collage with a recognizable image — like a face, or a butterfly, or a flower, or a parrot…whatever you want!  You'll be excited when you try out this super cool technique!

I very much hope to see you in class!

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer

Based outside of Boston, Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is a painter, printmaker, and collage artist who constructs vibrant compositions. Her artwork investigates the interplay of identity and perception, inviting viewers to take a longer look. Passionate about connecting with and inspiring other artists, she shares her expertise through in-person workshops and her online classroom at MyArtPractice.com. Julie's achievements include high-profile clients, multiple publications - including her book, “Carve Stamp Play” - and exhibits in New York City and throughout Massachusetts. • Good grief! Hope you have time to sleep–and eat, of course! Wish I were close enough for a couple of those classes! And the new stencil looks like a winner! Way to go, Julie!
