Hey you guys! Thanks to your enthusiasm last week, I decided to go for this new video series on exploring (new to me) products!
The Fiskars Stamp Press has been around for a while, but I finally decided to buy one.
Okay, okay, I bought two. One in each size (large and small). Because that's how I roll with art supplies. One is never enough and Amazon Prime is dangerous!
Watch the video to see my explorations:
Have you tried out the Fiskars Stamp Press? What do you think of it? Any tips or tricks to share?
Thanks for stopping by!

Yes I have the smaller one. I use if for my Christmas cards when I want to stamp a few stamps at a time (means hubby can help!). I did not have as much problems with it as you did, but I was using a different company’s ink pads, I did have to make sure I pressed all over all of the stamps. It did make lining up on the cards really easy, so for mass production it is great. Try different types of ink pads, I was using ColorBox which is a foam pad and gets lots of ink on stamps.

Thanks, Julie. I’ve looked and considered but wasn’t sure. Since I’m not into mass production and never plan that for ahead, I will wait before I buy one. I also want to congradulate you on your videos. They cover what you say you will cover, no psychological clap trap and lots of real, real info. Thank you. I always watch yours.

Get a MISTI It by FAR surpasses the Fiskars stamp press. It’s more expensive but really, really worth it.

I have both the large and small Matha Stewert stamp presses. I have a hard time inking the stamps without getting ink all over the foam “feet”…the impressions aren’t that great, and the foam feet have a tendency to fall out of the press….the smaller press has only 3 feet now…where oh where has the 4th foot gone???

I have had the same problem with the Martha Stewart press. One of the feet has also disappeared, so I do not use it. I went back to the old fashioned way of stamping–my impressions are great and I have less frustration.

I use the stamp press as a large block for my larger stamps by flipping it upside down and not using the foam feet. That way I have a pretty big block for my acrylic stamps. I rarely use the foam feet. I find that gives a good impression because it is just being used as a block!

I have one, didn’t hold up, foam fell off. Now I am on to MISTI. It is an amazinging stamping tool. Can’t live without it. Now I never have missed stamping, always just where I want it, can repeat stamp over and over.

That sounds like a good way to line up letters and such without using a larger block. Thanks for the idea Cathy.

I purchased the larger size years ago and still haven’t taken it out of the package. Originally I thought that I would use it for card making and never really got into making my own cards. Interesting to see you using it Julie and the comparisons that you make.

I have the large one and use a foam pad under it always. I like it to put multiple stamps on at once. I am happy with it and glad I bought it.

I have one of these but I find the foam moves and is not
that accurate. I bought the MISTI and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

I have them both and don’t have the problems you did, it is great. P.s Your are not meant to press on the feet bit, only in the middle bit.I find it really helpful especially on larger stamps before I often didn’t get a good impression in the middle, but with the press it is fine. x

I bought one (smaller size) years ago and had similar results. Since I am not an accomplished stamper, I thought it was the result of user error. Your product/process videos are engaging and helpful.

I like mine. I seem to have better results, but you do have to be sure to push down on the stamps. What I like about it is the ease of positioning. It’s very easy to move around and see where you want to stamp before pushing down.

I haven’t had any issues with the Fiskars press – I find if you put some more pressure above the stamp (walk fingers all over it) you get just as clear or better than with acrylic block. I use the smaller one for large background stamps and I find I get a better impression because I can put pressure all over the stamp and never had issues with the stamp press moving or shifting. I think if some are having issues with the foam moving there might be something slick or powder on the feet. I also want to try the misti – I hear it’s really good.

I have been using this for a few years and have had good results (more so with clear stamps). The only problem was from my own doing…I left it on the table, piled other stuff on it and flattened the feet – but they popped up back to normal and it works just fine!

I think the real magic happens when you use small stamps to make multiple cards and want the same impression on each card. I have one but never use it. I do want to get a Misti but am waiting to see if I really want it or just think I do.

I have both sizes and use the smaller one most of the time. But… One of the comments mentioned the MISTI, so I checked it out. Remembered the letter press I never use and it works just like the MISTI appears to work. Just take the bottom platform out. I figure I saved $50 dollars this am. Just sayin guys!

I love my stamp presses–I’ve had them for years, and they are my go-to item when trying to print large hand-carved stamps. I have one plate (you can get extras) reserved for these, using Scotch poster tape to attach the stamps securely. In between stampings, I cover the tape with release paper salvaged from mailing labels. FYI–Martha Stewart has “baby” presses like the Fiskars in two sizes, about 3 x 4 inches and 4 x 5 inches. Haven’t tried these, as the Fiskars does well for everything I do.

Haven’t tried these, as the Fiskars does well for everything I do.
Yes, I have the small one but now that I purchased the MISTI stamp tool i don’t need the Fiskars anymore 🙂

Just finished both vids in your new series and am finding them very helpful. I had considered buying this product for a long time but was never sure it would be appropriate for me. Thanks for the demo and looking forward to more!

I have one but saw the Misti and invested in one. So much better. No you can’t use it in a journal but well worth it when making a card.

Glancing thru other responses, I think we are mostly on same page. I’ve not got ton used to grabbing my fiskars plate for most stamping but certainly when making multiple cards or doing a layout with multiple stamps it works well. I don’t remember having a problem with quality of stamped image. But I always stamp on a pad.

I have the small Fiskars press and it is great for lining up stamps. I originally bought it thinking I could lay out my stamps and save time by stamping them all at once. Even with a fresh, juicy pad the impressions weren’t as clear as they ended up stamped individually with a block or by hand (foam backed.) I read super reviews for the MISTI on SCS and various, reputable blogs, etc. so I bought one. Iliana Myska took the basic idea of press stamping to the top of the mountain! IF you invest in it I am positive you will like it. The only thing I wish is that I could figure out how to fit and stamp my art journal pages in it. Heehee! Here is the link to her website if you want to take a look: http://www.mysweetpetunia.com/default.asp Gabby

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head: it’s super helpful for lining things up and placing them right where you want them.
I sometimes have trouble with cling stamps not wanting to stick to it.
I found mine very useful when I was mass-producing Christmas cards. (I don’t love mass-producing, but it saves time at the holidays!)

I was given one about 10 years ago, large square one…..GINORMOUS! It languished in a drawer for about 4 years unused & eventually I disposed of it! But it’s certainly interesting to get your opinion.
