Art Journal Every Day: July into September 2017

If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek.  Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.

I know I've said it before, but I went through a real art journaling drought this year.  After art journaling daily for years, I just stopped doing it.  Not sure why?  Life? Work? New interests? Time?  In any case, this lack of daily work means that we are going to be able to speed through July and straight into September in just three art journal spreads.  Enjoy!

My friend Jenn asked me if I could paint a cow in my personal Julie style?  I said: "I don't know. I've never tried."  And so, I tried.

I love how it turned out!  A good reminder to get out of the rut of painting the same things over and over again!  Time to broaden my horizons!

Flowers will always be a motif I return to time after time.  I think that's true for most people.  They're easy to draw, quickly recognizable, and always make me happy!

For this page, I cut around the edge of the flowers to create a unique shaped edge for the page.

The text block on the page is from my Unicorn stencil.

I always like a bit of hand lettering on my pages, especially at the beginning of the month.  It's amazing what you can do with just a simple black pen!

Because I cut the edge of the previous page, I needed to find a way to make that edge work with this next page…

…which was shaped on both sides!

Looking at this face, it sits so perfectly in the curved edges, that it doesn't look at all contrived or forced.  I love that!

I hope you're making the time to art journal! Thanks for stopping by!
