I love making handmade cards. In fact, any time I don't give someone in my family a handmade card, they yell at me. A handmade card is a lovely way to show how much you care about the recipient. Today I'm sharing two different cards that you can make with your ScanNCut!
Your ScanNCut machine has lots of built-in quilt block designs.
But what if you're not a sewer?
No worries! Today's project is all about using those designs to create a paper quilt! Watch the video for the how-to:
Here is the card from the video:
In red and green, this would make a great Christmas card, don't you think? Beautiful and so simple! I'm excited to try out a bunch of different quilt block designs as paper creations!
This next card features a custom region embossed design.
I love the tone-on-tone look here:
You can see the embossing a little bit more clearly in these two 5-second video clips:

Have you tried custom region embossing yet? It's pretty cool! And remember that the embossing template you create is re-usable! I hope you'll give it a try!
Thanks for stopping by!

Good Morning Julie,
I watched your video how to late last night. When I had to watch it twice. First time speakers on my computer when silent. I had to fix them. I then watched it again and could hear your video fine.
I think using the Brother scan n Cut is just magic. Why you ask? Because it is so extremely versatile. Here you Julie have taken a quilting pattern and turned it into a Birthday greeting card made with paper.
With that said any of the 140 quilt designs can be made with any material and designed for really any purpose. What else is magic is that you do not have to stay with in one set of design. You can mix and match the quilt designs for creating anything you wish.
What else I like about the Brother Scan n Cut is that you can take any of the point designs and use them as appliques or cut them out and make a giant paper or any material doll or design.
I loved the choice of paper you used. It reminded me of the ocean as the sun was setting and or rising. Very nice paper.
I have not made a quilt card as of yet. I can see for me some type of creation coming my way as per the quilt designs.
I have used my Brother Scan n Cut with the basic designs and made a fabric quilt. I am in the middle of making a pillow and I am using quilt squares as a frame around the pillow with a design in the center on a 9×9 fabric.
Thank you Julie for showing this technique. I think you did a fantastic job and what a great idea. I also like the use of the stick adhesive. I did not realize that it would make the paper pieces sticky and they could be adhered with out the adhesive coming along when you placed them down on the card. I also like the embossing technique on the card.
I have used my scan n cut to use the line embossing. I will have to try out the custom design technique you showed here.
Now I want to ask did you do your update a couple of weeks ago for the Brother Scan n Cut? I did mine and guess what it was. It was the Foiling technique update. Awesome apple sauce. I cannot wait to get my hands on a foiling kit.
I think I have rambled on enough. You have a great day and thank you again for showing your awesome quilt card creation and the custom embossing.
Happy Crafting,
Fawna

Julie,
Great quilt card and very unique. Could you comment on the type of adhesive paper you used the first time you laid out the quilt block? What is it called? I have not heard of anything that leaves the adhesive on for use on a 2nd surface.
