I wanted to share photos from the Altered Book class I taught in July.  One of my students, Marissa, was kind enough to host the class at her beautiful home!  It was a wonderful weekend of art play!  Take a peek:

We glued, cut, carved, collaged, built, painted, and reshaped our books into mini masterpieces!  Long before I kept a regular art journal, I altered books.  I love the mixture of books & art!

Thanks for stopping by!

Upcoming in-person classes:

I hope to see you in class!

  • Hi Julie – thanks for sharing the pix from your Altered Book class – I’d love to take it with you sometime. I took a class a few years ago from someone else and determined that, for me, having a theme for the book would be necessary to have any hope of completing it. When the 100 Day Project came up this year, the idea that had been swimming around in the back of my brain for about 5 years raised its hand and that’s what I began: an altered book using Joni Mitchell’s Blue album as its theme. The 100 Day Project is complete for the year, but my book isn’t done yet; I’m doing the songs in the order that they appear on the vinyl/tape/CD of Blue and I’m in the middle of Carey … If anyone wants to see (I’m having a ball and I want to share!) see my progress on IG at jmgleckler. Cheers, everyone!

  • Julie – how I would love to take this class with you – though that is a dream too far, the photos you shared have sent explosions through my brain…just as soon as I get my new art area set up – Ikea desks/drawers/files to be built and Hurricane Florence to circumvent in our already-slightly-delayed trip from CT to FL – I am going to use these photos as inspiration.
Thank you and all these incredible, creative ladies for sharing this wonderful session!
