Art Journal Every Day: Take a Peek into My 2022 Art Journal (part 4)

If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday or #artjournalingwithjulie so that we can all take a peek.  You can find my favorite art journaling supplies HERE.

I'm back with more art journal pages from my 2022 art journal.  It's quite a departure from my earlier style with lots and lots of writing.  I'm not sure that I'm done with writing in my journals, but I'm taking a break at the moment.  And that's okay.  My art journal is a scientific document. I am conducting experiments in its pages. I have a hypothesis and then I proceed to figure out whether or not my hypothesis is true through a series of controlled experiments.  Sometimes the experiments go well and other times I metaphorically blow up the lab!  Either way, I learn.

Take a peek:

The left side of this spread features one of the first large scale gelatin prints I ever did! It's from 2013.  The right side features a heart that swings free inside a heart-shaped hole.

And the whole spread is covered with bits and parts of an acrylic skin I mixed thread into.

The stencil I used on this spread is called "Flourish Tile."  When I created this spread, I worked around a large section of text I wrote ages ago. I can see the line between new and old, but I wonder if you can?

In the photo above, you can see the stitching around the edge.  It was originally a stand alone decorative file folder and then I ended up binding it into this journal.  You can see a 2010 blog post with some of these decorative file folders HERE.

I love the details on this page.

The stencil used in the photo above is a Crafter's Workshop reject — meaning, I submitted it for production and it was turned down.

I think it's highly underrated.  I love it!  The good news is that I've decided to make it available to Super Learner Members and Maker Members in August, as an SVG to download and cut with any electronic cutting machine.

I hope you enjoyed this peek.  You can find part one, part two, and part three in the Art Journal Every Day Archives.  And I will be back with more pages next week!

Thanks for stopping by!
