If you're one of those people pouring your paint water down your sink, check out today's post. There are a lot of different methods for safely disposing of acrylic paint water so that it doesn't clog your drain or end up in the ground water.
One that works is the Golden Crash Paint Solids Water Cleaning System.
Watch the video to see how it works:
You can purchase it online or from my art supply shops that carry Golden products.
You can make your own version of this system. Watch this video for the how-to:
This is an (almost) free method that requires pantyhose, a drill, and a plastic container:
Finally, this video has several very simple ideas for capturing those paint solids:
I hope you found this post helpful and that there's a method of acrylic paint water disposal that works for you!
Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you so much, Julie. There are several solutions in here that I will really employ! So helpful and concise. I’ve been wanting to be more eco friendly, but hadn’t researched these doable ideas.

I pour all of paint water in an big open plastic jar or container that I put on a shelf in my garage (so it won’t be reached by pets or children). I gradually fill up the jug and just let the water eventually evaporate leaving dried paint in the bottom. I can then use that jug again or others if I need more than one. Eventually you can just throw the jar with the dried paint in the garbage. It goes to the landfill and not down the drain.

-no pantyhose, please because the holes are huge compared to the bits in the paint.
-no sand or gravel will do the job well enough.
-coffee filters are great (they are even better with the chemicals).
-i use Claire’s method.
-i am glad to see this in open discussion!

I bought the Golden Crash kit at your recommendation a few months ago. It’s easy and I’m really happy that I bought it! Thanks, Julie.

First time I see someone mentioning ‘bits’ (particles) and size issue. Thank you. That makes all the difference and nobody seems to be paying attention to this!
