I've taken a slight turn in my 30-day abstract mixed media collages experiment!  As you know, I constructed all of these pieces using a grid design, and following my "Art Parts" theory of construction.  I have also gone all in on pattern-on-pattern-on pattern.  But I have started to change the way I construct these and it has made all the difference.  Check it out:

I really feel excited about these pieces and I'm hoping to size up for my last few entries into this series. These are all 8.5×11, but I think it would be awesome to do some bigger ones!

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. If you're in the Boston area, I'm going to have a booth at the Watertown Arts Market on August 21.  I'll have these and several other pieces for sale.

  • Hi, Julie! Perhaps you already explained the “grid” process; if so, I missed it and cannot find any information online.
Could you please give a brief description of suggest a web link where I can learn more? I can “see” what you are doing, but I don’t know the origin of this; is it something that you “invented”?
    As always, thanks for everything.

  • Looking forward to learning about grids in class on 8/15. Thanks for posting about the Watertown Arts Market. I love attending markets/craft shows & it feels like it was forever ago since I attended one. I’m curious if I could buy one of your grids before you sell at the market. I love one in particular from your previous grid posting.
