For Father's Day, my son and I embarked on a collaboration. He made the paper and I made the card:
He draws on newsprint, so in order to preserve the papers, I laminated the card front using a matte lamination pouch. You can see the difference between laminated and un-laminated areas in this detail photo:
I also added some dimension with a laminated heart that is folded to pop up a little, machine stitching, and the word, "Daddy," lifted up using foam adhesive.
Don't worry. Steve doesn't read my blog, so the surprise won't be ruined. 🙂
This is a super simple way to create a meaningful card using your child's drawings. And it's quick to make, so if you or your kids haven't yet made a Father's Day card, there's plenty of time! Also, you could use the same exact design with some grown-up scribbly drawings and I think it would look great!

i think it is so important for kids to participate like this! what a lovely collaboration. my niece can’t sign her name yet, but her ‘A’ signature means “happy (occasion) with love from (name)” to those who receive her cards. everyone appreciates her loving efforts.
