Keep Going Keep Going Keep Going

I recently made myself a long concertina-style book to experiment in.  I find myself wanting to create more abstract art and discover my personal abstract style.  Because I'm in a learning phase, the struggle is real.  And because I know that some of you struggle too, I thought it might be useful to share this video where I sat down to work on this spread 3 times and it changed dramatically each time.  Here are the cliff notes:

And here is the video:

Monthly members have access to the real-time version of this video in the online classroom.  🙂

Here's another look at the finished abstract painting:

My personal mantra — for better or worse — is "keep going."  It's not done until you like it.  So, if you don't like it, it's not done.

How about you?  Do you keep going until you like it?  Or do you stop when you don't like it?  I'd love to know!

  • That was fun!! I usually stop and don’t work on it until much time has passed and then I feel bold enough to change it. Thanks for sharing.!!

  • I keep going. Sometimes there’s a pause but going and going and going. Especially if it’s on a canvas or ‘good’, ‘nice’ (expensive) substrate. I just paint over and over and over till I like it.

  • I really like where this ended up. It’s fascinating how different the phases were and that you ended up with this final product. I’m looking forward to watching the long version 🙂
