I know you've heard it a million times, but it's so vital to take care of yourself. Especially in these socially isolated times.  A self-care routine is integral to mental well being.

SelfCareQuote-500
I wholeheartedly believe that acts of creativity are self-care.  In this video I share 3 tips for protecting your creative self-care routine.

Remember, it's your time, money, and space.

So take care of yourself and get out there and make something!

  • Great video – liked the part where you compared art to exercise. “I exercise every day” – how noble, right? (by the way, I don’t) “I art journal every day” – the first question that comes to mind for a lot of people is why? what is that? what are you going to do with it? Thank you Julie for continuing to be an inspiration and promoter of self-care.

  • Yea! I do some kind of art everyday, even in my sleep I dream of projects! When people ask me “what is that for, or what are you going to do with that? I just say when I am old and in a nursing home, I will look at my pictures of my artwork and drool over it!. Honestly, my creative self and my faith has been the thing that has kept me sane throughout this time of isolation. I have always been someone who could entertain myself. What a great asset this has been during recent times. You and others who promote art everyday are way ahead of the game. Afterall, who did people call on first when masks were needed so quickly….the crafters, of course.

  • Thanks! You’re always there to open our eyes and kick our butts! After I graduated college, and was then struggling with carving a piece of stone, my dad mentioned that I didn’t HAVE TO DO THAT any more because I was finished with school. I answered back, YES I DO! And I continue DOING THAT every day because I have to…it’s my self care.
    Thank you!

  • Love this. I recently realized how art and making art keeps me sane. It’s just not optional. I had decided to set aside time for creating every day. It’s that important. And I’m so happy with the art I’ve been creating.
