If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, the concept is simple: It's a commitment to take ten minutes each day to do something in your art journal. No need to finish anything or even like it. It's about making the time to nourish your creativity every day! If you have the time to flip through your phone, you have the time to Art Journal Every Day. If you'd like to share what you make, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek. You can find new Art Journal Every Day posts here on the blog most Fridays. The archives go back to the first Art Journal Every Day post in 2010.
A Traveler's Notebook is a long skinny notebook. In fact, it's often not a notebook at all. It's very often a cover with elastic bands running along the spine and inside the cover lurk several notebooks and even folders.
I recently picked up a Traveler's Notebook with a black faux leather cover. Inside are two plain paper notebooks and a little folder.
My plan is to use the notebook to play around with my original 100 day project idea: art + words. Here's my first entry — I actually did it while I was in my hotel room in Cleveland last week:
I also wanted to decorate the outside cover, but my experience with painting faux leather has not been good. The paint doesn't seem to stick for long. So, I thought about it and decided to go with heat transfer vinyl (HTV). I love how it turned out and that HTV is permanent! It's not going anywhere, no matter how much rough handling my Traveler's Notebook gets.
- I drew a design.
- I cut the design out of HTV using my ScanNCut.
- I ironed the HTV onto the Travelers Notebook cover.
If you're interested in learning more about using HTV with your ScanNCut DX, be sure to join my live online class next week.
I'm looking forward to using my new Traveler's Notebook for all kinds of art + words. I'm thinking I might use one notebook for quotes I like and one notebook for thoughts out of my head. I can't figure out what to use the folder for, however. Any ideas?
Thanks for stopping by!

My first thought was maybe use the folder for a pop-up art.
