So you may recall that I posted about the USPS Collaborative Art Project last month. Well, I wanted to share what I sent out and what I got in the mail. It's a really interesting thing to send someone else a piece of art to finish. Everything I sent I felt was half-finished and left room for someone else to come in and make it their own. That said, I was surprised by how close to finished some of the pieces felt. It wasn't my intention, but it made me think about maybe trying some restraint in the future. Check it out!
I sent out a piece of art cloth:

Such a wonderful collection of art. I hardly know where to begin. Truth be told I've been staring at these pieces for a few weeks wondering what I can bring to them. I'm really not sure. I suppose that's the fun of the game. But I also feel stressed that I'm somehow going to ruin them. When I create the work from start-to-finish I have no such fears. After all, I can just start again. But somehow these feel more precious. I only get one shot and it has to be good. It's silly and I know I shouldn't think that way. But, nonetheless, I find myself a little bit paralyzed by fear. I suppose the only way to get over that fear is dive right in!
