I found a super cute and easy tutorial that I just *have* to share!  It's from a blog called, "The Other Side of Neutral" and it's a step-by-step photo tutorial on how to make these really cute dimensional snowflakes:

Papersnowflake
Here's the link to the tutorial.  The blog writer made hers with book pages, but I can imagine they would be super cool made from hand painted papers too!

Every year I decorate our Christmas tree with handmade ornaments, like these:

That said, we couldn't get our act together this year to decorate the tree.  (The fact that we managed to get a tree at all feels like an accomplishment!)  However, next year, I plan to make a bunch of these dimensional snowflakes to add to my handmade ornament collection!

Hope you're having a great Monday and Happy Hanukkah!

  • I made one of these a few weeks ago! Except I made a version with a five-by-five grid instead of three-by-three. It was fiddly to make, but looked great in the end. Mine ended up kind of huge, so I’m using it as a tree-topper.
I love your handmade ornaments! I have a second tree that’s nothing but handmade ornaments (and next year there’s going to be a third. I kind of have a problem…)

  • I know this is a lot to ask for now, but in the future, could you please do a tutorial on those gorgeous handmade ornaments you have in your collection? They’re stunning!

  • Julie, I’m retired, I don’t have a brand shiny new baby to tend and love or a busy art life and I just got the candles in the window an hour ago! I hope you and Steve have a wonderful Christmas, a happy Hanukkah and all the best in the coming year — and that you get a little time to breathe!
