They say the best way to explore a city is on foot.  So, let's hoof it around Paris and see all the beautiful architecture and gardens and street life!  (And admittedly, some of these photos were taken from the top of a tour bus or our hotel room balcony, but it's more romantic to pretend they're all from walking around the city!)

Paris is a gorgeous city with a river — the Seine — running through it.  One of the reasons that Boston — the city where I live — is called "a European-esque city" is because of the river — the Charles River — running through it.  In that way, Paris felt familiar.  I love that you can walk all along the Seine in Paris — either at the level of the river or up at street level.  It's wonderful.

As a side note, I'm not quite sure why I took one billion photos of the Eiffel Tower, but I did.  It seemed an omnipresent subject — perhaps because it's the tallest structure in Paris, so you always see it.

It's the details that slay me — like the fish at the base of this light pole.  Totally unnecessary, but so wonderful.

One of my favorite neighborhoods that we walked around was The Marais.  I wouldn't call it hipster-y — well, maybe I would — but it was definitely hip with lots of beautiful buildings under construction and fabulous shop windows to peer in and dream about.

This was the view from our terrace — not too shabby:

There's so much to love about Paris!  It's a city with almost no skyscrapers!  There are so many parks and wide boulevards.  Truly a lovely city to visit from aesthetics alone!
