If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek. Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.
Thank you to all of you for your kind words about my sad news. Knowing that so many people took the time to leave their warm wishes made me feel so lucky and loved. It has been a tough few weeks, but I am slowly getting back on my feet and back to business. Thank you!
I know that I am way overdue on announcing the winners of the Rhodia Goalbooks giveaway! Mea culpa. But…before I share, how about a few more pages from my Bullet Journal?
I think the best thing I did when I started Bullet Journaling was to create a color coding system:
- Black Pen: Structure (appointments, lines on the page, etc.)
- Red Pen: To Dos
- Blue Pen: Diary-style entries
This very simple color coding allows me to look at any page and immediately identify what is important, despite the chaos. I love it!
My Bullet Journal is a working document. It's not meant to be pretty. I don't stress about creating gorgeous lettering or amazing doodles or coordinating everything. These pages are alive and full of my messy life.
I carry just two types of pens with me (in a few different colors): Pigma Micron PN and Koi Coloring Brushes. They're great pens that are super versatile and don't leak through the pages!
I did experiment with watercolors in my Bullet Journal. It went pretty well. No leak through and not a lot of page wrinkling once it had dried. I might try that again.
Overall, I continue to love my Bullet Journal. The weekly spreads that I've shared here have really kept me on track in terms of keeping all of my freelance projects on schedule. Moreover, I love knowing where my notes are. I've always scribbled notes — from classes, from meetings, from phone calls — onto a thousand random pieces of paper. What a delight to be able to open up my notebook and find them all in one place!
Truly, how did I live so long without a Bullet Journal keeping me organized?!
I realize that my enthusiasm for Bullet Journaling borders on the psychotic. The simple fact of the matter is, I had no idea that something so simple could make such a huge difference in my life. Even if you're a non-believer, read this article.
And now for the winners!!!!
Please e-mail balzerdesigns2@gmail.com with your mailing address and I will pass it on to the good folks at Rhodia! Thanks for stopping by!

Julie, can you speak to where you put all the notes from classes, ideas, etc. that accumulate during the day, in your bullet journal. That information would help me so much! I love your authentic and honest sharing on your posts. I also love the profound and important quotes you had in your journal. What a wonderful way to remain focused on what is right! Hi there,
Question, do you look up various print types and copy them or are they your own ideas or creations? I get sick of doing the same thing and to look up type fonts and then copy takes so much time and I feel I am always just trying to get down what I need to do or what I did.

Theyre my own ideas. It takes too much time the other way.
