When I teach, I usually sell my demo paintings.  This one…

…found a happy new home.  Yay!

However, this one…

…did not.  I had to get it home, but it was too big to put in my luggage.  So, I pulled the canvas off the stretcher bars, folded it up, and put it in my suitcase.

When I felt the loose canvas in my hands, I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it. Instead of re-stretching the canvas and hanging it up on the wall, I knew that this painting was destined to become an apron!

On the back of the canvas, I traced an apron I use all the time and cut it out, including the neck strap.

I didn't sew the edges or anything.

Because it's painted canvas, I figured that it wouldn't unravel.

I stitched together two shorter pieces of canvas to create the waist ties…

…and stitched the ties onto the apron body.

I couldn't imagine having an apron without a pocket, but I didn't want to block the image in any way.  So, I looked at the leftover painted canvas I had and discovered that there was a section that kind of lined up and blended in if I placed it correctly!

Pretty cool, right?!  I love this new apron!  It gives me even more motivation to keep painting BIG!
