Back in June, my local quilt guild, Quilters Connection, held their annual quilt show. I was thrilled and delighted to discover that my owl quilt had made it onto the official quilt show tote bag!
The guild voted and my little cutie was one of the ones that got chosen. Yay!
I entered two quilts in the show. One was an older one, which you can see in this 2009 blog post, and the other one was something I made in June that I'm not 100% sure counts as a quilt.
It is fabric.
There is stitching
There are layers.
There are stitched layers.
BUT….
It's not really a quilt in the traditional sense. It's more of a quilt collage.
I took a variety of small pieces and scraps and combined them into something greater — something that tells a story.
I love how it turned out! So tactile. So dimensional. So interesting to look at and think about. I think the imagery and the combination of imagery is quite evocative.
What do you think? Does it count as a quilt? Does that matter?!

Since I have assisted with judging for IQA-Houston, it is definitely considered an “art” quilt. I know some categories have changed, but I know there is one for small, and, people, animals, etc. I’m guessing, if it were to be judged, it would be placed in either one of those. Nice job!
