Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing photos from my travels through London and Spain.  So much to share!  So much art!  So much architecture!  So much I'm excited to share!

Today I'm delighted to share one of the highlights of my trip to Spain.  An unexpected surprise: a lovely chapel cemetery in Cadequés (pronounced Ca – duh – kesh).  We walked up a hill in search of Dali's House and found a lovely little chapel instead.  The chapel itself was very austere and simple.  Though, I was struck by their very modern Jesus sculpture.  It contrasted strongly with the ancient feeling of the chapel.

On my way out of the building, I saw an open red door.  I stepped through it into a magical hidden cemetery.  Wait until you see how beautiful it is!

I feel like this cemetery did a masterful job in mixing nature with art and creating a serene environment.

I loved the personality in all of these niches.  This cemetery felt personal.  I'm not sure I've ever said that about a cemetery?

Those leaves and flowers are sculpted from metal.  Sculpted.  From.  Metal.  Totally amazing!

I hope that when I'm laid to rest it's in a space surrounded by art and serenity.

Thanks for stopping by!

This is stunning, the doors, the statues, the resting spots, it is personal and so moving, so beautiful and peaceful. Loved seeing it!

  • I love cemeteries. I’ve been two two in London: HIghgate and Brompton, and I plan to visit Kensal Green on my next visit. I especially love taking photos of stone angels.
    Love those mausoleum niches!
