Art Journal Every Day: The End of a Journal

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Art Journal Every Day #artjournal #artjournaleveryday

If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek.  Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.

It is both sad and glad when a journal comes to an end.

I'm sad because that journal has become a comfortable friend.

I'm glad because moving onto something new is exciting!

This push and pull somewhat explains why the last few pages of every single one of my journals are packed with stuff and yet startlingly empty of content.  Check it out for yourself:

This spread is packed with tags from Carve December.

By gluing them into my art journal I feel like I have these tags forever.  Somehow when they're floating around loose, they seem so forgettable.

This next page features hearts cut from a sheet of plastic I used as a paint palette for several weeks:

There are five plastic hearts on this page.  Do you see them all?

Take a peek at a few of them up close:

I added some prints from a thermofax screen to the page:

I know that these pages are insane pattern on pattern, but I love the chaos!

This is the final spread in this journal:

On the left is a layered Gelli Print and on the right are more hearts — some plastic paint palette, one deli paper, and one made up of book pages!

Check out that Gelli Print:

This is a single piece of deli paper that I printed over and over using masking to create the look of the butterfly on top of the pods on the stick on top of the leaves — and so on.

Thanks for stopping by!
