If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek.  Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.

Today I've got some more art journal pages from December 2016 to share with you.  It's funny how I can look at the pages and remember what I was doing when I created them.  I think art making creates that kind of visceral memory for me.

This first page is one I worked on while on an airplane. I remember thinking that all that detailed coloring would be a perfect airplane activity — and it was!

I used my beloved Moonlight Pens to color all those little bits and pieces.

I used two Balzer Designs Stencils on this page: Flower Tile (seen above) and Julie's Words (seen below):

This beautiful butterfly print was a gift from a student in a stamp carving class many years ago.

It was a stamp she carved in class and I think it's glorious!

I had originally planned to color in this next page:

But then it was so fabulous in black and white that I decided to leave it as it is.

This next page is a total "Frankenstein" — i.e. made up of little bits and pieces.  But you can't even tell that because of all the pattern.

I love the way pattern fools the eye.

This page also features the Julie's Words stencil.

Finally, check out that super cool uneven edge.

I love to bind together messy little bits and scraps when I create my junque journals.  I love how every page is therefore automatically unique.  There are no standard rectangles in this journal!

flow well on paint or marker or anything except plain ole paper, wish I knew what I was doing wrong. Also, I’m going to use the cut
