Matisse in the Studio at the MFA

I visited the new “Matisse in the Studio” exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) twice last week.  I took a lot of photos (though certainly not of everything in the exhibit).  Take a peek:

I’m going to save my commentary for tomorrow.  Mom (who saw the exhibit independently of me) and I had a long chat on our Adventures in Arting Podcast about the exhibit — expectations, differing perspectives, and more!  That will be up tomorrow, but I wanted to give you an opportunity to digest all these images before listening to the conversation.

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Thank you!!! I read about this when I was in Philadelphia two weeks ago. I knew I could not get there and am so grateful to you for this marvelous post. You do us such a grand favor when you do this. If you have NOT been to the Barnes in Philly you must get yourself there. You need a good half day on your own before or after taking a private tour with a curator on Tuesday when the museum is closed. You will not believe this place… More Matisse and REnoirs than in all of Paris. You have to do your homework – google the story, watch the movie and check the recent history to get a full appreciation for what you are seeing. These pictures can never be sold or loaned to any other museum so you will only see them there.

  • I’ve been meaning to write and thank you for all your marvelous posts of art exhibits I don’t have a chance of seeing. Matisse in particular makes me want to envelop myself in color and curves.

  • Thank you so much for posting your photos from the Matisse exhibit! I read about it and wished I could somehow get there! Wisconsin and Boston are not close! LOL! Matisse is one of my Art Heros and I feel like I got a peek over your shoulder as you saw it. Thanks again!
