Adventures in Arting Podcast: Headed to CHA’s Creativation Show

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Adventures in Arting Podcast

I'm delighted to bring you another episode of the Adventures in Arting Podcast!

If you do not see the podcast player above, please click on this link.  You can listen to a podcast anywhere and at any time.  It is a recording that is available to you whenever you'd like to listen.  If you'd like to download it to your iTunes library, click here.  You can also pause and rewind or fast forward as you desire.  I like to listen to podcasts while I'm making art.  It's a little like hanging out with friends while you art.

Today's podcast features chatter about CHA's upcoming Creativation Show, my recent visits to HSN and the MFA Boston, and more!  I will share lots of photos from all of those things in February.  In the meantime, here's a recent snap of me and Mom:

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Adventures in Arting Podcast

  • I absolutely love your podcasts! I often listen to them while I am preparing meals in the kitchen. I just love what your mom adds to the conversation. I love how as a mother she encourages and prods your many talents. She asks great questions and formulations. I also love w hen you have guests on and love the questions you ask your guests. I learn so much. I am always sad when they end. Thank you so much for all that you do to contribute to teaching, learning, bringing artist community together and more

  • You are heading out to my hood!!! I know this year will be unfamiliar with it being the first one in Phoenix. If ever you want a place to stay in Phoenix I sincerely invite you to stay with us. We even have room for mom! I figure it would be easier to stay downtown near the venue the first time. Should CHA continue in Phoenix in futures maybe staying out a bit would be of interest. We are about 30 minutes away.

  • I don’t listen to any podcasts at all (also don’t like the radio) – but I LOVE your VLOG! I’m such a visual person, I enjoy stories with pictures much more than spoken word.

  • I admit that I wasn’t into podcasts too much at first until I found the perfect time to listen:at work while packing and unpacking interlibrary loan materials for processing. Since the work is repetitive and somewhat boring, it is the perfect time to plug in my headset and listen to podcasts. I enjoy your thought process and the backstory of the business of art, your subject matter is usually thought-provoking and interesting.BTW, we all tend to do the “I’m not good enough” syndrome – you are not alone in trying to rise above that feeling. I am also a late night artist – I totally blame all those years working in theatre – plus working with deadlines? Another theatre attribute!

  • I used to listen to podcasts more when I worked from home, but now that I work in an office it is a little harder and I have to make the time. I do check in on your blog and Instagram regularly. I try not to think “I am not good enough” but use the internet as inspiration not intimidation.
And just a little FYI about Girl Scout cookies from someone who has been a Scout for nearly 30 years, there are 2 different bakers for Girl Scout cookies. So depending on which baker the Council gets their cookies from, the cookies will have different names. Same cookies and great taste just a different name. And the majority of the money from the sale goes to the girls and not to administration.

  • I have a loyal listener for a couple of years! Just finished the most recent, and loved it — the banter between the two of you makes me laugh out loud which since I listen on my commute to work, gets some peculiar looks from other drivers! Always want to comment, but rarely do, b/c I forget, so glad you asked. Hard to say my favorite, so many to chose from, but I adore the new format with the two of you. VERY VERY excited about your new class concepts for 2017, esp the stamping class. Can’t wait to hear/see all the news from CHA! Love you guys, and keep those blogs a comin’!

  • Happy to know the podcasts are archived because eventually I would like to hear all of them. I make time to listen as they always make me smile and sometimes chuckle. I wish they were videos but you can’t have everything.
Keep bringing us artsy news and inspiration. I do not tweet, twitter or instagram so follow you on blog and vlog. Might try FB too.
I consider myself a desperate crafter in a densely teeny space who hates typos, especially when auto correct mistakenly
changes the spelling of my last name and street name.

Look forward to new online classes as I cannot attend a class face to face.

  • Love listening to your podcast. My daughter and I laughed aloud at your comments. Yes, we need a desperate crafter group.
Look forward to new online classes as I cannot attend a class face to face.

  • Hi Julie, It’s been one year since I took your in person class, and I collaged my first goat. I had such a great time in your class, and there have been many goats since. I can’t wait to take the new on-line classes you mentioned. They both sound great. I hope you’ll come back to Anaheim someday! -Florence

  • I have been listening to your podcasts for the last year and I love the enthusiasm that you and your mom share. You challenge me to look at art differently and to take risks. Recently, I have been spending a lot of time driving and have been listening to old podcasts. (Worked backwards to 29.) Your podcasts have served to give my mind a break from the challenges of making tough decisions as guardian for an 87 year old abuse victim who was my neighbor. Thanks to both of you for being a steadying force and giving me plenty of smiles when I left the hospital with a jumbled mind. Thankfully, she left the earth peacefully yesterday morning. Blessings to both you and your mom…I look forward to future podcasts as well as finishing up 1-28!

  • Just catching up, had a beautiful afternoon yesterday walking the dog and listening to your podcast! Thanks for clearing up the new name for the old CHA, I certainly had been wondering if they were one and the same. I especially love the way the podcasts and the vlogs bring you to us.
