Art Journal Every Day: What Does Inspiration Mean?

Inspiration

Finally, there were a lot of museum visits in 2016. Five of my faves (in no particular order):

  1. SFMoMA
  2. Harvard Art Museums: Everywhen Exhibit
  3. Quilt Festival: part one, two, three, four, five
  4. National Gallery of Victoria
  5. Art Gallery of New South Wales

Thanks for a great year!  I'm so grateful to have this community in which I can freely share my art and my life.  I hope that 2017 is a wonderful year — for all of us — filled with art!

I'll be back in 2017!

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer

Based outside of Boston, Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is a painter, printmaker, and collage artist who constructs vibrant compositions. Her artwork investigates the interplay of identity and perception, inviting viewers to take a longer look. Julie works in layers, both physically and metaphorically, exploring what is visible and what is concealed. Passionate about connecting with and inspiring other artists, she shares her expertise through in-person workshops and her online classroom at MyArtPractice.com. Julie's achievements include high-profile clients, multiple publications - including her book, “Carve Stamp Play” - and exhibits in New York City and throughout Massachusetts. She is a graduate of Brown University.

  • Hi Julie,
I got the Scan and Cut 2 for Christmas and would like to cut a pattern for stained glass which needs a negative number in between the pieces. How can I do this with the Scan and Cut?
    Thanks,
    Patty

  • Hi Julie, I am very interested in taking your stamp carving class because I have tried carving a couple of stamps but I am lacking in technique and knowledge of how to make my designs work together. I have been interested in printmaking since high school (in the late 60s, lol), and discovered art journaling and gelli printing a couple of years ago. Your web site, Facebook page, and blog were among the very first informational pages I found. Your work is inspiring!
