I finished a new painting! It took me about six months. Long journey, right? The good news is that I absolutely love it. The bad news is that you don't get to see it until tomorrow. Today is simply about the journey.
I came back from Australia in May and was all creatively charged up. I wanted to paint! And so I did:
But then things got busy. I started working on projects for Make It Artsy and the painting pretty much became a cool background for photos.
Some time during the summer I decided to attack the canvas once more. It went in two waves.
Wave one: drips.
Wave two: stenciling.
I thought the painting might be done at this point. But someone came by and mentioned that they didn't think it was and I let that bug get in my ear. Shouldn't have, but I did. So, the painting sat and stared (quite literally) at me for several months.
This Fall I decided to try and improve it.
Maybe it's done now?
Well, I just couldn't leave well enough alone.
Ugh. What is it now?
Well, you'll have to come back tomorrow to see the finished (and it definitely is finished — I signed it and hung it in my kitchen) painting!
Thanks for stopping by!

I’m glad I’m not the only one that takes forever to finish a piece. Thanks for making me feel better.

It is so inspirational when you post something like this and show the tortuous process and working and reworking and re-reworking… I can do journal pages no problem but the fear locking me up preventing me from working on the four large blank canvases I bought (because I DO find I like working on a bigger surface) is just crazy. I keep playing over and over what to do and how to start and what the end result should be… but you demonstrate that you don’t need to know where it will end up: just keep going and keep trying and paint over it and keep on keeping on and it will get there.
Thank you.
Can’t wait to see the final result!
