If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek.  Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.

Searching through the #ArtJournalEveryDay hashtag is always a delight!  One of the things that I love about art journaling is the diversity of styles and the overabundant creativity. Here are a few of the pieces that stood out to me:

I don't know what happens when you close the book, but I love the dimension on those flowers!

I love the monochromatic feel  of this and the beautiful inky background.  And for anybody who doesn't like to write in their journal, stamping song lyrics is an awesome solution!

The beautiful soft artwork on this page really struck me, especially paired with those four powerful words.  I have always found my art journal to be a great place to work stuff out.

This page was named 'Hurricane Matthew' and it looks like a radar image of the storm.  I love the geometric freedom the page offers.

Beautiful, simple, clean lettering.  The orange-red makes the blue scalloped oval pop so well!

Haleycasource: haleyca

I immediately thought of Matisse when I saw this beautiful page.  I love the simplicity and the color blocking and the sentiment.  Totally perfect.

Rosieraindropssource: rosieraindrops

I'm noticing a lot of blue in these picks.  I love the collage and stitching and layering here.  Really draws me in!

Salerysource: salery

Simple and elegant, these watery marks make me want to break out the watercolors!

Which of these pages inspires you?

Thanks for stopping by!

  • I am a fan of blue, and a fan of the Beatles, and admire the work of each individual musician. Matisse is my favorite classic artist, but the black-and-white patterned watercolor is a direct reflection of your teaching, Julie! So, I am inspired by all of these peeps!

  • So much creativity here. I am drawn to blue also; I think it’s because it the color of clear sky and open sea and they call to me.
Hurricane Matthew is spot on…love the movement and feeling of this piece.
Once I read your Matisse comment for haleyca’s treasures I could definitely see the similarities; love that you have so much “arty” background to draw from and that you share it with us!

  • Blue is so restful….all the walls in my home are blue, except my kitchen and laundry room (they are yellow). The blue and yellow cone flowers are my fave, but all the pages speak to me……
