The Adventures in Arting Podcast: From Byron Bay Australia

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Adventures in Arting Podcast

I'm delighted to bring you another episode of the Adventures in Arting Podcast!

If you do not see the podcast player above, please click on this link.  You can listen to a podcast anywhere and at any time.  It is a recording that is available to you whenever you'd like to listen.  If you'd like to download it to your iTunes library, click here.  You can also pause and rewind or fast forward as you desire.  I like to listen to podcasts while I'm making art.  It's a little like hanging out with friends while you art.

I've got a new podcast from Australia for you.  Soon enough I'll be headed home.  Seems surreal to think that my Australian adventure will soon be over.

Here are some of the things we mentioned during the podcast:

Video of me petting a kangaroo is HERE.  Photo version:

Sydney Botanical Garden (long photo-filled post on this coming):

Aboriginal Dot Art information can be found HERE and here is an example of what it looks like:

A guide to some Aboriginal Art symbols can be found HERE.

And I found some cool dot painting process videos on YouTube.  This one is my favorite:

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Fun listening to this! I agree with your impression of the differences between Melbourne and Sydney (although since I come from Melbourne I may be biased!). As someone who shares your fear of animals, I understand how hard it was to pat that kangaroo. And if the spider you killed was that one on Instagram near your shoes, good on you! Ew! Although my first thought was “It’s not that big” – huntsmans can get way bigger than that. And the further north you go, the bigger the spiders get. I had a tarantula at my back door recently that covered two two-inch square tiles (so yeah, 2″ x 4″). Yuck! I had to call in reinforcements!!! On the plus side, we don’t have bears ….

  • After last week’s posts, I tried an aboriginal design knowing nothing about the symbols. Never the less, I liked my design, but I just couldn’t get with the colors. It’s way too spring around here. I worked a black background and red/pink/purple shapes which I will follow with the dots. I know the authentic colors are earth derived colors, so maybe in the fall or late summer I will try again, this time using some form of symbols. Another great inspirational podcast. Thanks.

  • So glad you loved your Australian trip and were able to share it with your many world-wide fans, putting us on the map. Hopefully this will encourage more folks to visit. It is a very diverse and friendly country and I love it. Would not want to live anywhere else.

  • I listened to this in the middle of the night when I first noticed it popped up and enjoyed hearing more of the Australian trip. (It was a welcome diversion to the storm raging outside!) I was also thinking how comforting it must be when Mom can hear your voice across the many miles. Safe travels home when the time comes, I am sure we will see more transpacific watercolors and journaling!
