Art Journal Every Day: The Last Pages of 2015

If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek.  Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.

I'm way behind on sharing my daily pages!  Here are the last few from December 2015.  I really struggled with my art journaling in 2015 — possibly reflective of all the changes in my life during 2015.  I think that my art journal is naturally a reflection of my own state of being.  When I'm really hitting my stride in my life, I see that in my artwork.  When things are a bit messy, well, I see that in my art journal too.

I used the two different (here and here) Balzer Designs eye Art Foamies here.  I stamped one in black and then the other over the top in white.  They don't match and they weren't designed to work that way, but I like the look!

After I had completed this page I had a leak through the spine that ended up making the pages stick together and rip.  So I put some washi tape over the damaged (ripped) area and decided to just leave it.  An art journal is a living object, and stuff happens.  I embrace that.

Anyone else think that bit of paint looks like a piece of bacon?  Or am I just hungry?

The stamps are ones I carved during Carve December.

  • Some events are meant to overlap, some days run one into the other..
Beautiful art and meaningful journal. Thanks for sharing, mistakes included! Really does look great.

  • I, too, can see in a glimpse while looking at pages in my ‘Chronicles’ art journal in what state my life was at that point. Moods and events reflect in colours and techniques… and I think that’s awesome! I love your pages, especially the eyes, and yes: that piece looks like bacon (but I haven’t had breakfast yet…) Enjoy your Sunday Julie!
