If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek. Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.
Another art journal has come to an end. I've said it before and I'll say it again: When I get to the end of an art journal, I start to get impatient. I want to move on and start the next journal. My last few pages always seem to reflect that anxiety. They tend to be either large drawings, glue pages (lots of stuff glued to a page), or background that simply don't get covered. This journal is no exception. Take a peek for yourself:
This is often what my pages look like before I go in and add journaling. But when I got to this page I just decided to leave it as is.
This next page has the same "background-y" feel:
It's a little bit denser than the last page and feels like it might stand alone.
This last page is quite literally the last page in the journal. I glued two old projects onto it. The first is a drawing done on a book page and the second is an ancient 6×6 scrapbook page that never made it into an album.
I tend to stash a lot of old projects in my art journal. It gives them a place to live instead of simply floating around my studio.
Thanks for stopping by!

I haven’t art journaled in over a year. I miss it. I’m encouraged by seeing pages on the web. I will get back there.

It’s kind of like reading, when you don’t want to get to the end of the story, yet you want to finish the book. But here, there might be a little twist at the end, and the story continues…

Sometimes, those pages just don’t need more. They are too beautiful to cover, or their openness suggests possibilities.

So glad you shared this. I often have the same end of journal dilemmas.

I love the drawing on the book page, both the drawing AND where you did it.
