I thought I'd share some photos from my whirlwind trip to Sweden.  My theory on breaking the back of jet lag is: sunshine, walking, being cold, and eating!  As you'll see from the photos, I checked everything off that list!

We stayed at a hotel that had a kind of funky vibe.

Stockholm is a beautiful and very walkable city.  I found the juxtaposition between the old buildings and all the new construction fascinating.

There were a number of beautiful churches to explore.  This one was my favorite:

My main day for exploring was a Monday, and unfortunately for me, almost all of the art museums are closed on Mondays.  But I found an art supply store!

I had a great meal and amazing dessert at a bakery/cafe called Vete-Katten.  (Yelp is my favorite site for finding great places to eat, no matter where in the world I am!)

The day of the Gudrun Sjoden Most Colorful Woman interviews and awards ceremony included a very nice lunch and dinner, a dance show, and lots of colorful ladies!  It was all hosted at the Stockholm Royal Opera House – a beautiful building.

On the morning I left Sweden, we got a tour of the Gudrun Sjoden headquarters.

I took a ton of photos that I can't share until those collections come out.  It was super cool to get to see the design process and the warehouse and all the behind-the-scenes jazz.

While I didn't win the big prize, I still had a fantastic time.  This was my second time in Stockholm.  It took me fifteen years to make it back for this second visit.  Next time I hope it's a much quicker trip back!

  • Wonderful to see a bit of the city. It does look like you got around. Did you make the scarf you were wearing at the awards show? If so, that would be a great online or unperson class.

  • YAY You! I finally connected the dots between Gudrun Sjoden, colorful Women Prize and you and what I voted on weeks ago…thanks for winning for us and sharing the prize. Oh I guess there was another prize but you must have made lifetime connections…great to see that you took full advantage of the trip. Keep going!

  • That’s wonderful! I would love to go to Sweden. Trips to my local Ikea are the closest that I’ve gotten so far.
I love how the hotel had a quote from a Tom Petty song on the wall. A culture mash-up for sure.

Love the opera house – so much class in that place! I like to see the new Gudrun collections when you are allowed to release them. Your perspective is always fun! Thank You. 🙂
