What crazy person thought it was a good idea to carve a stamp every day in December?!  One of the busiest months!  What is wrong with me?!  Don't answer that.  ;)

The last few days of #CarveDecember were tough going.  Lots of travel, family, obligations…but I made it!  And I enjoyed myself along the way!  Here's what I carved for days 24-31:

My Mom took this photo of me carving a stamp at her house:

Light is key to carving for me.  I have a whole bunch of different Ott Lites (such as the folding one in the photo) and I think they're the best!  They're daylight lamps and the light is clean, clear, intense, and really reduces eye strain.  I love mine!

It doesn't take a lot of rubber removal to make an awesome stamp.  For the final stamp of #CarveDecember I removed just the teeny tiniest pile of rubber to create something magical!

Which one is your favorite?

  • HOLY GUACAMOLE, Julie! They just keep getting more and more amazing. Besides being gorgeous, glorious, mind-bogglingly wonderful, I think you have the makings of fabric design (at a commercial level) in these! Yup, you should start your own line of fabric as well as stencils, stamps….
    Awesome!

  • Hi, Julie,
I ‘ve done your great book and taken your great class. I’ve recommended them and given them both as gifts. Love ’em!
One question: you list a grid stamp in your supplies, but I don’t think you demonstrated it in either your book or your class. How do you use it? On the rubber before designing? I’m confused. Thanks!

  • Ooops, I didn’t answer your question. The stamp I love the best from this collection is the last one because it is so tiny and rather “unassuming” to look at, but wow! what a dramatic pattern it makes!

  • All your stamps are fun. I can’t pick a favourite.
I don’t have an OTT lamp but I do have a headlamp (formerly for camping) which has worked great for me. I really enjoyed participating in #carvedecember. I posted a photo of all my stamps on my blog: http://misskoolaid.com/2016/01/01/happy-new-year/
