If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. There is a flickr group for sharing right here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post. Thanks!
Happy Friday! As I've mentioned before, I go through phases in my art journal. I seem to be in a doodle-y phase at the moment. No pages seems complete without at least a little bit of pen work to enhance it. Check it out:
This is an image I found in a magazine enhanced with some pen and paint play.
I've always found that if you make the eyes on a face arresting, the rest of the face hardly matters.
I've been calling these my tribal faces.
The "hello" and the "flower" are leftover pieces from my ScanNCut workshop at CHA. I love finding a home for all my leftover junque in my art journal!
There's a lot of stamping going on on this page. Can you guess why?
The pages are from December! And December was when I started my #CarveDecember challenge of carving a stamp every single day in December.
Lots of pen and doodle work, even on these stamped designs! A white pen really does make everything better!
The numbers are actually rub-ons. I find myself falling back in love with rub-ons and digging through my stash looking for old rub-ons to use in my art journal.
Here are some of my favorite pens to use in my art journal (I figured someone would probably ask):
Here is this week's linky list:
Thanks for stopping by!

Your tribal faces are amazing! I think it was only a matter of time until they developed from your hands. So interesting.
The paint rag canvas is also a favorite. With stamping or bolder handwriting added to the “painted” border, I would fill the center with something in the tones of a black and white photograph, or just a favorite quote with some doodles.
And… Your guest posts are so fun to follow- thank you for coming up with that idea so we can all share in the incredible talents of others!

I’m in love with your ‘tribal faces’ – in fact, I’m in love with all your drawn, altered, collaged etc. faces… I admire you, I am not good at drawing faces at all! I know, I should practice but I just can’t seem to get myself to that… now maybe that’s a good intention to work on this year. Ha!

Oh Julie, you so inspire me. I love the idea of redrawing the faces from the magazines. I’ve been collecting them to draw from it. I also collect pen markers and used engagement planners from past years for their artistic designs. Now I can use my magazine pictures and pen markers to doodle in my old engagement planners. What a great idea! Thank You so much for sharing!

Your lettering is always inspiring to me – a new thing that I would love to learn. I always scan your posts before I read them so I can feast my eyes on all the eye candy and your tribal faces jumped right out at me – so unusual and so “Julie”!!
