Today I'm sharing two short videos to help you get the most out of your ScanNCut.
First up, I get asked lots of questions about how best to save your cutting mats. Getting the stick back on your mat is really easy, just be sure to use alcohol and fragrance free baby wipes! Watch the video for more on mat maintenance:
Next up, cutting out your stamped images with the Direct Cut function:
Here's a peek at the two stamped images we cut out, glued into my art journal:
Quick and easy! Just remember that the scanner inside the ScanNCut needs a clear and closed outline in order to cut out the image for you!
Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I am a paid spokesperson for the ScanNCut, but as always, the enthusiasm and opinions are all my own!

The Scan N Cut is definitely on my wish list. Can’t believe the versatility of the machine. I enjoy your tutorials and blog. You are so inspirational.

I have a scan n cut, and if it weren’t for your tutorials, I’d never use it! I don’t understand the instruction book, which seems to be translated from the Japanese by a Norwegian. Thanks for your tips, otherwise, I’d be selling mine!

Hi Julie, thanks so much for the tips on the Scan N Cut machine. I agree with the others that if we didn’t have you this machine would be very difficult to understand. I found one other source that is a good one too, it is on You tube channel Applelover53, Ashley Morrison. She has also started a free Scan N Cut forum called “ilovetoscanncut” which is very helpful. She lists you as an excellent resource for videos and help.
As a note to the cleaning, I have had good success with the alcohol free baby wipes, but I also tried Ashley’s tip of re-gluing only the original mat with a Zig two-way glue stick, and it worked very well, now I clean after each use with a baby wipe, just to keep things neat. For some reason though Ashley did not use the re-glue on the low tack mat, probably because as you noted you should use the blue fabric sheet covers on the low tack mat. Hope this helps.

Great tip, Mary! I will have to check out Ashley’s YouTube Channel. However, please note that I have been told by Brother employees that regluing your mat may void your warranty because the adhesive can get stuck in the machine. Hope that helps!

Oh Julie, thank you very much for that note about voiding the warranty and possible damage to the machine. I don’t think I will do it again, besides the baby wipes seem to work fine as long as I use them frequently. There is so much to know about this machine. I really appreciate your help because I know I can trust what you have to say. Hope I didn’t mislead anyone out there.
